    Bike for rent: We insert the credit card at the beginning, how will the system withdraw the money from us if we take more rides?. When we leave the bike, do we leave it somewhere or do we need to put it back at the station? How do we do anything from the phone when we place the bike anywhere?

    Great to see a new video from you! I'm very interested in the idea of discreet wearables, I'd probably prefer a smart bracelet to a ring I think. I know Fitbit style bands have existed in the past, but I don't want a screen on it.

      Those changes were to achieve a more upright position, which I prefer for endurance riding. Had I got the smaller size my saddle in relationships to my handlebars would have had me in an even more aggressive position as it would have been raised higher out of the seat tube to accommodate my 32" inseam. I've also had multiple bike fits and the one I had on my first road bike the fitter advised I could have gone up a size, another factor in my choice.

    I am looking at transitioning from my road bike with the skinny tires to something like the turbo vado or turbo vado sl. I am 71 with about 12 years of riding and doing triathlons and was always one of the slowest. I also recently had a nerve seizure in my leg that aggravated the numbness (nuropathy) in my feet and legs. This has made it difficult, balance wise, getting on, getting going and stopping. I feel so insecure now. I still want to get the exercise which hasn’t been much the last couple years. With that background information any suggestions on going regular or SL? How hard are they to ride with no assist and what kind of workout would I get on eco assist? Thanks

  • @jjdtierney
    @jjdtierney 5 місяців тому

    Why the batteries? The Moulton should be ridden analogue. Instead of "conserving battery" why not use your own battery? Thats a sporty bike so why add battery weight only to be frugal with it? I ride 20" Xootr Swift in a mountaneous environment and I manage just fine without any assist. Don't get me wrong - e-bikes have their place. But batteries add weight and dumb things down. Why have a high performance bike then add a couple kilos of motor and battery then not use it?

    • @davidparry1982
      @davidparry1982 4 місяці тому

      I’ve ridden vintage and modern Moultons as my only choice of bike unassisted for years and love them all, however you ride the bike you like, so if this works and helps some folk access Moulton magic or to your point re e-bikes in general, any bike for that matter, I think it’s great. The important thing is to get on the bike and ride 😊

    A nice common sense commentary on cycle way design, Recently in Edinburgh all those terrible designs have been introduced and roads that I was previously able to cycle along have become more hostile with drivers believing that they have the right to kill cyclists who don't use the cycle way. They also make turning left and right much more complicated, and if the lane doesn't allow you to travel where you want to go then tough luck. The worst offenders on the roads are non-advanced car drivers and they should be removed from the roads, not cyclists! Edinburgh is so bad now I don't even want to cycle anymore.

    • @OneLessCar
      @OneLessCar 10 місяців тому

      😔 The priority of cars over all else is very frustrating. The UK refuses to use basic design guides that are out there created by countries that have decades of experience. We must reinvent the wheel... So frustrating.

    At last! A proper paved cycle path in England! Not gravel patch, a sheep pasture or a narrow road. Cycling isn’t dangerous if motorists will be mindful that the roads are to be shared in equal rights with cyclists. However, we all know that not all motorists respect that fact. They know that cyclists have equal rights to use the roads but they don’t care. Now as to being dangerous, definitely YES. Imagine colliding with or being hit by a motor vehicle weighing tons, and the only shield you have is a helmet (hence your body is entirely exposed to trauma). This answer is not about theory but about fact. In theory it shouldn’t be dangerous, but in reality it is dangerous.

    • @OneLessCar
      @OneLessCar 10 місяців тому

      In reality when you look at the miles cycled and harm it's more dangerous to get into a car. It's also more dangerous to not be active than the risk you face cycling regularly.

    • @JanBanJoovi-ol1qv
      @JanBanJoovi-ol1qv 10 місяців тому

      @@OneLessCar if you’re looking at statistics regarding car accidents and comparing it with cycling accidents, that’s another misleading comparison. There are more deaths recorded in car accidents simply because there are more cars and more undisciplined drivers. What should be being discussed here is the real or literal danger of cycling on the roads per se. And not something else. Your second argument is another irrelevant point about the topic. Offcourse sitting around not doing exercises is unhealthy and dangerous (any person in their right mind knows that). What’s being asked here are the dangers per se of cycling on the roads and not it’s dangers as far as health is concerned. The question is straightforward with a straightforward answer.

    Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!

    Initial response: Got this bike for my friend. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ Delivery was fast. And the friend was surprised I would order it when she had never suggested she wanted anything but the pedal bike she had. She has now ridden the bike two times and gives it a 10 and says it is very fun. We have some hills in our town that are very challenging to climb on a typical bike. But tonight she went up with the pedal assist and loved it. I was way behind on my standard bike, huffing and puffing. Now she is no longer lagging behind me. This thing is powerful enough that a person could go around town without any pedaling. She likes to get some exercise so on flat ground she hits the red button to turn off pedal assist and only uses the twist throttle when she's in a tough spot. The bike looks good. It is really a very nice bike for the friend. Now for me, when I get an electric bike, I'm twice her size and will be looking for a bigger watt motor and battery. But this one is just wonderful for my friend. I am happy with this purchase.

    Thank you so much for the point about the telescopic seat post and the extra stress when using it at maximum height in the seat tube. I use one because of how tall am, but there's quite a bit of spare before the safe insertion limit, so I've decided to use a small length of the height adjuster sleeve to drop the main post down, and raise the telescopic inner part with the seat clamp to the equivalent height of the 3 OR 4 sections of adjuster sleeve I'll be using, thus alleviating that stress you mention.
